GENERAL INFORMATION Keys for Student Success: 1. Be on time for school! 2. Do all homework. 3. Read. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Uniforms: Blue, black or khaki pants, skirt or jumper with a solid color, collared polo shirt. Navy blue, white, black or maroon sweater. No sweatshirts, hoodies or jackets will be allowed in the classroom. Skirts and jumpers are to be knee length. If leggings are worn, skirts must extend below fingertips when standing at attention. Sandals are acceptable if they fasten to the foot. No flipflops. Turtlenecks may be worn under the polo shirt for added warmth. UNLOADING AND LOADING The school will be open at 7:45 a.m. The teachers will not be unloading the students from their cars. Please make sure that your student has entered the building. School ends at 12:00 noon. To pick up your student, you may park in front of the school on 400 West or along the side of the school on 500 North. We will dismiss the student when we see your car. Pre-school and kindergarten students will be walked to their cars if they do not have older siblings. Please avoid U-turns. SNACK AND RECESS The pre-K through 3rd grade students will have a 15-minute outdoor recess. It is important for these students to get fresh air and use their large muscles. Please be sure that your student is dressed for the weather. After recess they will have snack. The 4th grade and up will have a 15-minute snack/recess break. Snacks should be small, nutritional and easily eaten in 15 minutes. Please do not pack anything that could spill, i.e. fruit cups. No juices of any kind. Water only. WATER All of the teachers allow water at the student’s individual seat. The water bottles should be low profile, holding about 8 oz. It is our experience that younger students rarely drink a full 8 oz. during a school day, so a small bottle is sufficient. Large water bottles (over 16 oz.) are unstable and fall or are knocked off the desks quite easily and are discouraged for all students. We do not have drinking fountains, but water is available in the kitchen if the student needs to refill the bottle. We do not provide paper cups. Parents may provide small paper cups to the school, but we discourage their use because of the waste, clutter and potential for spills. The school will have a supply of water bottles in our refrigerator for purchase. The cost will be $.75. Teacher/Classroom Information:Mrs. Millard (email) No current reminders. Check back often.
Mrs. Nichol (email) or call 720-323-0682 Unless specified, homework should be done in pen, on lined notebook paper with no "ruffles". I will accept typed work for all assignments other than spelling practice (where students need to write words 3 times) and penmanship. All math homework should be done in pencil.

Please help your Kindergarten student with the appropriate "Resources" section on this page to reinforce their daily study time. I suggest starting with the "sorting vowels and consonants" activity in phonics, and the "shapes and colors" math activity. E-mail is the most efficient way to communicate with me, just use the link above. In the case of an emergency call the school at 801-232-1692. I will check my e-mail every weekday, morning and afternoon, and will respond as quickly as I am able to questions, comments, and concerns. Resources:Students are expected to use a portion of their homework time utilizing these reinforcing activities. (Please note the Saxon sites are under construction at this time.)
